Commander Henry Sharnborne Nathaniel Micklethwait R.N. J.P. 1814-1894. of Iridge Place, Sussex. Baptised at Sprowston, 21st August 1814. Educated at The Royal Naval College. 1861 census shows him as Lieutenant Royal Navy. A member of The Commission of Peace. (A Royal Commission issued on a regular basis for each county which set out the powers & names of those appointed to act as Justices of the Peace). Commander R. N. in 1878. In the publication 'Great Landowners of Great Britain & Ireland 1878' it is stated that H S N Micklethwait owned 5356 acres in Norfolk; 2,671 acres in Sussex; 1,839 acres in Suffolk & 713 acres in Co. Westmeath, Ireland. |
