John Thomas Micklethwait 1843-1906. Born at Riskworth House, Wakefield. The 1861 census shows him as a scholar living in Wakefield. Became a famous architect. The 1871 census shows John as an architect living in London. On the date of the 1891 census, John was at his mother's home in Wakefield. His work can be found in many churches across the United Kingdom & in 1898 he was appointed surveyor to the dean and chapter, Westminster Abbey. In 1900 he was also made architect to St George's Chapel, Windsor. He died in 1906 & was accorded the honour of burial in the west cloister, Westminster Abbey.
